Chapter 1: The Wannabe King Returns

In the democracy of Freedonia, President Maximus Ego had always fancied himself above the law. During his first presidential term, Ego systematically destroyed democratic principles through actions that resembled a child dismantling a Lego castle with no understanding of what he was destroying.

Ego watched with approval as his supporters took control of the National Assembly during Liberty Day. The judges who rejected his election fraud claims received his label as “enemies of the people” from him. The president publicly threatened officials who refused to locate missing votes. The institutions he damaged, the norms he broke and the guardrails he destroyed served his goal to maintain his power grip.

The election defeat did not stop him from regaining power when he ran again four years later. The supporters of Ego became ecstatic when he returned to power because they wanted to defeat liberal opponents. The people of Freedonia welcomed their authoritarian leader back to power.

Ego proved to be an incompetent leader because he had forgotten his main responsibility as president.

Chapter 2: The Great Awakening

The return of Ego to power triggered a political awakening in millions of previously inactive Freedonian citizens. The wannabe dictator revealed his true intentions through his second-term plans which included mass deportations, weaponized justice and constitutional reinterpretations.

On Liberty Day, 2029 (exactly four years after Ego’s first insurrection), something unprecedented happened. The people of Freedonia along with millions of others marched toward New Capitolia and all provincial capitals throughout the nation. The massive peaceful demonstration which started as the biggest in Freedonian history evolved into something beyond peaceful protest.

As Ego’s security forces proved insufficient and his support crumbled, the protesters didn’t just march—they occupied. They didn’t just chant—they demanded immediate resignation. And when Ego refused, they simply… stayed.

The wannabe dictator was overthrown, not by the deep state he constantly railed against, but by the very Freedonians whose democracy he had tried to strangle.

Chapter 3: The Liberal’s Playbook

Alexandra Brightfuture emerged as a protest leader after the mass demonstrations began. The new leader presented herself as the opposite of Ego through her clear speech, dedication to helping others and strong moral foundation. The new leader faced an unpleasant discovery about power during her time in office.

The authoritarian framework Ego built during his first term remained intact as a dangerous instrument that could be used by anyone. The weakened courts together with established executive overreach, political violence and deteriorating democratic standards persisted in the system.

Brightfuture examined the authoritarian tools which Ego had built and considered using them briefly to defend democracy.

She declared emergency powers to rebuild democratic institutions. She granted additional powers to the executive branch for safeguarding defenseless populations. She used her authority to bypass the National Assembly because she wanted to stop fascist movements from continuing. The federal agencies received orders from her to pursue legal action against all former authoritarian leaders.

Each step was justified. Each step was necessary. The exact methods she used followed the same approach that Ego had established in his playbook.

The second dictatorship in Freedonia emerged during the following two years with a leader who demonstrated reading abilities and genuine conviction about saving the nation.

Chapter 4: The Abbott Corollary

Governor Rigidus Narrowmind of Conservatopia demonstrates the same level of strategic thinking as a goldfish with memory loss, according to his political actions.

Narrowmind’s initiative to force school students to study the Ten Commandments has created a chain of unforeseen results. His delusional thinking leads him to believe he is building a religious state which will enforce his specific faith. His actions create an opportunity for every religious organization to request equal educational representation in schools.

The classroom display of different religious laws should be allowed according to Narrowmind’s established precedent. Hindu principles? Buddhist teachings? Satanic tenets? Governor Narrowmind established legal standards which will enable every religious group to obtain equal educational time in Conservatopia schools. People watch in amazement as someone builds a boomerang with “OWNED LIBS” written on it before launching it with maximum force only to be stunned when it returns to strike them down.

Narrowmind and politicians from both parties demonstrate such short-term political focus that they fail to recognize the consequences of their actions. The politicians operate at a level below checkers because they fail to play either chess or checkers. The game they play involves inserting their finger into their eye while declaring victory.

Chapter 5: The MAGA Monkey’s Paw

The most remarkable aspect emerges from MAGA supporters who demanded a dictator throughout multiple years. The people received their desired authoritarian leader although he turned out to be different from what they envisioned.

The political leaders who supported Ego during his four years in power failed to recognize that the tools he used to destroy institutions could be employed against them. The arsonists who celebrated match discovery failed to recognize that fire would affect all people without discrimination.

The “Democracy Protection Regime” of President Brightfuture now restricts their freedoms through executive powers which they previously supported when their preferred candidate used them. The surveillance system which they supported during Antifa investigations now tracks their religious gatherings. The federal authority which they supported during their previous leader’s administration now exercises control over them.

The people who demanded a powerful leader received their wish, but their leader supports healthcare for all citizens and rejects the false claim that climate change originates from China.

Conclusion: The Center Must Hold

The satirical scenario demonstrates democracy functions as a single system which requires all participants to follow established rules. The destruction of democratic norms results in their complete collapse for all citizens. The institutions that you weaken will become vulnerable to all future leaders who hold power regardless of their political affiliation.

Any democracy depends on ordinary politicians who support compromise and institutional respect and recognize that democratic processes matter more than election results.

The nation requires political figures who will reject demands from their most radical supporters. The Republican Party needs members who will protect the nation from authoritarian actions within their own ranks. Democratic politicians need to avoid using aggressive methods to combat their opponents. Political leaders who recognize democracy ends when political victory surpasses responsible governance.

The nation faces an inevitable future where each authoritarian regime uses the tools developed by its predecessor to suppress its opponents. The system produces no winners except for those who seek to control others.

The political actions of Greg Abbott and his fellow politicians who push for religious display mandates and Supreme Court packing will create explosive consequences that will harm them directly.

Democracy exists to create a framework which enables people to accept the fact that they will not obtain all their desired outcomes. A stable democratic system enables citizens to tolerate not achieving their complete set of goals. The loss of democracy affects all citizens when we forget our democratic principles regardless of which political team we support.

The process of destroying democracy to gain a dictator will result in obtaining a ruler who matches your desires but not the one you originally sought.

Vote for boring. Vote for competent. Vote for people who understand that democracy is more important than ideology. Your future authoritarian overlord will thank you for not making their job easier.
