Facts. Unfiltered. Straightforward. Analysis.

Our species has existed on Earth while facing continuous attempts at destruction since our first moment of existence. Throughout hundreds of thousands of years human beings faced silent predators which moved through the world like wolves circling a fire. The combination of viruses, bacteria and parasites killed numerous children before they learned to walk while taking down healthy parents and destroying entire communities without showing warning signs or having any mercy.

Then something extraordinary happened. For the first time in our species’ existence, we learned to fight back.

The development of vaccines created a transformational achievement which makes the recorded statistics seem unbelievable. The statistics show the lives of millions of children who survived while millions of parents got to see their children to adulthood instead of mourning their loss.

The absence of vaccines during pre-vaccination times turned childhood into a random process of survival. The worst polio epidemic in United States history occurred in 1952 when it infected 57,628 people. The disease resulted in 3,000 deaths and paralyzed 21,000 more people. Parents that summer lived in absolute terror. They kept their children indoors, avoided swimming pools, canceled birthday parties. The disease could strike like lightning. As one survivor later recalled, “One day you had a headache and an hour later you were paralyzed.”

The world faced multiple deadly diseases which included polio as its most notorious threat. The United States experienced a measles outbreak in 1920 which affected 500,000 people and resulted in 7,500 deaths. The throat-attacking disease diphtheria killed more than 13,000 children during that same year by forming deadly throat membranes. Smallpox, which killed roughly 30% of everyone it infected and left survivors horribly scarred, was so common that parents didn’t plan funerals if their children got it—they just waited to see who would live and who would die.

Most people experienced this kind of existence throughout the majority of human history. The normal practice of family planning involved having many children because parents understood that multiple children would not survive to become adults. The numerous small graves in cemeteries became a common sight. The rapid spread of epidemics during those times resulted in the complete destruction of numerous family bloodlines.

The arrival of vaccines brought about a complete transformation in medical practices.

The United States experienced a dramatic decrease in polio cases after starting mass vaccination programs in 1957 because the number of annual cases dropped from 58,000 to 6,000. The United States has not recorded any cases of wild polio since the last reported instance. Zero. The disease which used to cause paralysis to thousands of American children yearly has vanished from the entire North American continent.

The same pattern of disease reduction occurred with all vaccine-preventable illnesses. The implementation of vaccination programs led to the elimination of measles and mumps and rubella and diphtheria and whooping cough from the world. The diseases did not merely decrease in number but became nearly extinct.

The worldwide statistics demonstrate an extraordinary scale of success. The worldwide number of wild polio cases decreased by more than 99 percent since 1988 when the disease affected 350,000 people across 125 countries to the current two affected nations. The number of people who can walk today exceeds 20 million because of vaccination efforts that saved them from paralysis. Systematic vaccination programs have saved an estimated 1.5 million children from death.

The achievement of this transformation did not occur randomly. The development of vaccines represents the most advanced biotechnological achievement that humans have ever achieved. Modern vaccines function as precise medical tools which target particular pathogens with high precision. Traditional vaccines that use weakened or killed virus particles work effectively against pathogens which have simple structures. But others require more advanced approaches.

The situation resembles military combat. The fight against some threats requires standard military equipment but others need specialized military strategies. The fast pace of influenza virus evolution demands vaccines which can receive rapid modifications when the pathogen transforms. The development of vaccines for viral cancers demands scientists to create products which focus on precise viral proteins. Scientists use mRNA technology to create new vaccines and modify existing ones because it enables them to develop solutions against changing threats.

Every vaccine must complete an extensive testing process which spans multiple years before it becomes available to the public. The testing process includes laboratory research and animal experiments followed by three distinct human clinical trial phases which enroll thousands of participants. The approval process for vaccines includes ongoing safety checks through various surveillance systems which track down both frequent and infrequent adverse reactions.

The widespread belief that COVID-19 mRNA vaccines triggered numerous heart-related complications stands as one of the most prevalent misconceptions of our present time.

The actual data shows a completely different outcome than what people believe. The occurrence of severe allergic reactions from COVID vaccines amounts to 5 instances for every million doses administered. The occurrence of heart inflammation shows up in 12.6 instances per million doses among people between 12 and 39 years old. The heart problem incidence among unvaccinated people exceeded that of vaccinated individuals. The rate of heart inflammation from COVID-19 infection reached 200 cases per 100,000 patients which exceeded the vaccine-related rate by 40 times.

The heart inflammation cases that developed after vaccination required minimal treatment and showed brief recovery periods. The reported side effects from vaccines follow a normal pattern which scientists have documented throughout history. The medical field has consistently observed minimal side effects from vaccines which affect only a small number of people. The existence of monitoring systems serves as the primary reason for their implementation. The COVID mRNA vaccines demonstrated the same safety profile which scientists have documented for multiple decades.

The vaccine monitoring system reports 30,000 adverse events each year. The system reports 10 to 15 percent of adverse events as serious medical conditions. The system monitors all vaccines administered to hundreds of millions of people throughout one year. The occurrence rate of these rare events matches the probability of being hit by lightning.

The recent decision made by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. constitutes a disastrous error in public health policy. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made a decision in 2025 to terminate $500 million worth of mRNA vaccine research initiatives. The most advanced vaccine technology developed to date faces elimination through his decision to terminate funding.

The medical community expresses extreme concern about this decision. University of Minnesota infectious disease expert Mike Osterholm declared that this public health decision stands as the most dangerous choice he has witnessed during his fifty years of work. The former head of the Trump administration’s biodefense program Rick Bright warned that our nation will regress to 1940 standards through this decision which will inevitably lead to catastrophic results.

The current situation becomes clear when we consider a scenario from 1925 where governments chose to ban automobiles because people were dying in traffic accidents. The authorities might have chosen to eliminate all funding for automotive research while returning to horse-drawn transportation. Modern vehicles would lack essential safety features including airbags, seatbelts, anti-lock brakes and crumple zones. The world would still operate with Model T vehicles which are much less safe than contemporary cars if we had not progressed beyond 1925 technology.

The current situation with mRNA technology mirrors this exact scenario. Scientists started working on mRNA technology during the 1960s before achieving major progress in the early 2000’s which resulted in COVID-19 vaccines becoming available in 2020. Scientists spent decades developing this technology which now enables fast response to emerging threats through a platform that operates at a speed previously reserved for yearly development cycles.

mRNA vaccines aren’t just about COVID. Researchers around the world are using this technology to develop personalized cancer treatments, HIV prevention, and vaccines against rapidly mutating viruses. It’s the only vaccine platform that can be developed quickly enough to respond to new pandemic threats. By cutting funding now, we’re abandoning our best defense against future outbreaks and revolutionary medical treatments.

The statistical evidence demonstrates that mRNA vaccines protected numerous people from death. The Pfizer vaccine prevented 6 million deaths during its first year of use according to analysis while Moderna prevented 1.7 million deaths. The development and deployment of these vaccines occurred at unprecedented speed, yet they achieved the same level of safety that traditional vaccines have always required.

Medical history has never seen a vaccine safety monitoring system as advanced as the one we use today. The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System operates as an early detection system which identifies rare adverse events in the population. The identification of potential issues leads to extra research through separate independent monitoring systems. It’s like having a dozen different smoke detectors in your house, each designed to catch problems the others might miss.

The planet remains in a state of active hostility against human beings. The planet Earth produces new viruses while bacteria develop drug resistance and cancer kills hundreds of thousands of people annually. Human history has never seen such effective tools for fighting back against diseases. Our immune systems can learn to identify threats before they become active threats. Scientists can create new defensive strategies at a fast pace because pathogens keep changing.

Humanity achieved its most significant triumph against the hostile forces of the universe. Our species protects itself through scientific knowledge and precise methods and shared dedication to defense. The vaccines administered to children contain the accumulated knowledge of millions of years of evolution which now serves as our defense mechanism.

Humanity has evolved from being defenseless against tiny pathogens into becoming proactive protectors of our own existence. The number of deaths from diseases that used to kill millions has decreased to thousands. The number of people paralyzed by viruses has decreased to almost zero. We’ve taken conditions that terrorized our ancestors and made them footnotes in medical textbooks.

The present decision before us presents a basic choice. We should keep developing these life-saving technologies because they represent our most significant medical achievement while preparing for upcoming threats.  Or we can retreat to an era when microscopic killers ruled the earth and humanity could only watch helplessly as they claimed our children.

We’ve fought too hard and come too far to surrender now. The microscopic wolves are still circling our campfire, but for the first time in human history, we’re not afraid of the dark.
